Making French Toast!
This was so cute...last Saturday when I woke up I came into the kitchen and found Joel teaching Lilyana how to make french toast! She stood up on the chair like a big girl and listened and watched intently as daddy showed her how to dip the bread. She loved eating it when it was done too. I think this will be a fun little tradition for daddy and Lily. I love watching them together. Whenever Joel is home Lily follows him all over the house! It is so cute that she just wants to be everywhere that daddy is.

Deanna Rose Farm
We decided to brave the steamy July heat and go to the Deanna Rose Farmstead last week with our friends Sarah and Lincoln. There were all kinds of animals and playgrounds and gardens. The kids did great considering it was 95 degrees, sunny, and humid. Lily especially loved the goats...she thought they were puppies! She was chasing them around the pen saying puppy puppy puppy! It was so funny that she wasn't scared of them at all. (I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing!) She was really impressed with the peacocks as well; she did not want to leave their cage. Lily and Lincoln loved running around in this little garden that had a bridge they could walk across and other fun kids' stuff that will probably enjoy a little later when they are older. We definitely need to take another trip to the farm when it is a little cooler, and when Joel and Aaron can come too!

sprinkler park
Thursday we met our friends Amy and Avery at the water sprinklers at Loose Park. The girls had a blast running around and playing in the water. It was a great way to cool off in the 90 degree weather!

4th of July fun
We had a really fun 4th of July celebration! We went out to a family friend's house in Plattsburg way out in the country. Joel's friend Aaron(from his class at Mid-America) and his wife Sarah and 15 month old son Lincoln came with us. Sarah and I have become pretty good friends over the past couple months. We have been getting together on Monday nights to make dinner together and let the kids play while our husbands are in class until 10:15. We have a lot in common and are so thankful for their friendship! We all had a blast fishing, playing with the 5 huge dogs, watching fireworks, and hanging out. Lily and Lincoln were a little scared of the loud fireworks, but all in all they had a great time. Hopefully next year they will be a little more excited about the fireworks! Here are a few pictures from the day...

Steve Miller Band Concert!
So, Thursday night Joel and I had free tickets to go see the Steve Miller Band at Starlight. We were so excited to have a date. Jaime came over to babysit Lily for us, so we had everything all set and ready to go. As soon as we pulled out of our apartments it started to rain! We were both like oh great...flashback from 3 weeks ago when we were stuck in a huge thunder and lightening storm (at Starlight watching Chicago and the Doobie Brothers). WE ended leaving the Chicago concert early and were so sad. This time though we ended up sticking out the concert and managed to have an amazing time even though we were drenched the entire time. They put on a really great show. It actually stopped raining for awhile and then opened up and downpoured again as we were running frantically to find our car after the concert. It is not so easy to run in pouring rain with extremely wet jeans, flipflops and sweatshirts on. But, there was no way we were going to cut our date short b/c of a little bad weather! It was great and we made a great memory! Sorry there aren't any pictures, but I was afraid my camera would get waterlogged.
