To Michigan and Back!

Well, we survived! We spent about 17 hours in the car each way to Traverse City, Michigan last week. We left Wednesday night and drove straight through. We started our trek home early Monday morning and made it home around 12:30 am on Tuesday. The girls did absolutely amazing! We had to stop every 3 hours for Adelyn to nurse, so that helped Lily to have a break and get out and stretch. The reason for this crazy long road trip with a 2 year old and a 2 week old was my cousin's wedding. Lily had her first role as flower girl! I think I was definitely more excited about it than she was! We decided to go for it knowing full well that we would be exhausted and a little stressed out, but I am so glad we did. It ended being really fun and Lily did a great job walking down the aisle! I posted some pics of the trip below along with some other pictures of bath time before we left. (I have more pictures that I will try to post tomorrow). So we are back in Kansas City and back to normal life in our new cozy little house adjusting to having two amazing little girls in our family. Adelyn is sleeping much better these days and is definitely growing! We will go to the Dr. this week for a check up, so I will have to post about that later. Lily is adjusting great to having her "sissy" around as she calls her. She loves helping me take care of her and she plays with her baby doll and takes care of her like I do Adelyn. It is so cute to watch her. Well, I have to go, both girls are sleeping...so it's my chance for a little rest! Check back for more pictures and updates!

Welcome Little Adelyn Eden!

Finally our little girl has arrived! Early July 4th I started having contractions that were semi-painful and thought to myself yes! this must be it! I tried not to get my hopes up too high though because they were pretty sporadic. I went through the day trying to ignore the fact that the contractions were getting closer together and much more painful. By about 6 pm I kind of decided that this was really it. Despite feeling extremely uncomfortable we decided to continue with our plans for the 4th. We went to a friend's house to grill out and wait to go the fireworks show. By the time we were done with dinner and on our way to corporate woods to watch the fireworks it was about 8:30 pm. I was very uncomfortable at this point, but contractions were still about 11 minutes apart. As we were driving I was thinking to myself I am totally insane for doing this! The fireworks were a great distraction, as my contractions grew closer together and more intense. It didn't help that we had a 15 minute walk to our car afterward. On the drive home, my contractions were 6 minutes apart and so we decided to head to the hospital to get checked out. We were admitted at 12:27 am on July 5th and I was already dilated to a 4-5 and 90% effaced! The rest of the story is long, but anyway, I was in labor all night and Adelyn Eden was born Sunday July 5th at 7:57 am weighing in at 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 3/4 inches long. We love her so much! I want to thank Joel and our doula Heather so much for all their encouragement and support, I could not have done it without them.

Blueberry Picking and Clean House!

Last week Lily and I went blueberry picking at the berry patch with Tara and the kids, Kaleen and her kids, and Renee. It was perfect weather, and the blueberries were great and plentiful! Lily loved being with her cousins and putting all the blueberries in her little bucket. I think she likes eating them the best though! The other pictures are of the house we have been working on cleaning top to bottom the past couple days. The pictures aren't the best because it was about 11:30 pm when I took them, but it is coming along! We totally finished cleaning last night and took our first load of boxes over today. It is slowly beginning to feel like home and we love it! I will post new pictures as soon as we get everything set up....and of course whenever this little baby girl decides to come we will post pictures of her!
