Finally our little girl has arrived! Early July 4th I started having contractions that were semi-painful and thought to myself yes! this must be it! I tried not to get my hopes up too high though because they were pretty sporadic. I went through the day trying to ignore the fact that the contractions were getting closer together and much more painful. By about 6 pm I kind of decided that this was really it. Despite feeling extremely uncomfortable we decided to continue with our plans for the 4th. We went to a friend's house to grill out and wait to go the fireworks show. By the time we were done with dinner and on our way to corporate woods to watch the fireworks it was about 8:30 pm. I was very uncomfortable at this point, but contractions were still about 11 minutes apart. As we were driving I was thinking to myself I am totally insane for doing this! The fireworks were a great distraction, as my contractions grew closer together and more intense. It didn't help that we had a 15 minute walk to our car afterward. On the drive home, my contractions were 6 minutes apart and so we decided to head to the hospital to get checked out. We were admitted at 12:27 am on July 5th and I was already dilated to a 4-5 and 90% effaced! The rest of the story is long, but anyway, I was in labor all night and Adelyn Eden was born Sunday July 5th at 7:57 am weighing in at 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 3/4 inches long. We love her so much! I want to thank Joel and our doula Heather so much for all their encouragement and support, I could not have done it without them.
